Many herbal products
made in China have been found to be contaminated with heavy metals
or adulterated with unlabeled pharmaceutical compounds. At Kan Herb Company,
we have created our own guarantee by testing every incoming lot
of herbs for over 200 different pesticides as well as toxic metals
and bio-burdens, such as yeast, mold, E. Coli and Salmonella. Our Certificates
of Analysis attest to the extensive testing our
products undergo.
Every herb is visually
inspected for appropriate genus and part, as well as for quality
and freshness, using traditional organoleptic methodology. Only superior grades of herbal products are selected and any
adulterated, or improperly substituted material, rejected. We
test all herbal material organoleptically.
Once the herb has passed organoleptic testing, it is sent to a certified laboratory for identity confirmation, using chemical analysis. We then send the herbs to be tested for pesticides and residues. With more than 300 individual herb reference samples in our extensive
database, we assure that the consistency and quality of our raw
herb constituents is maintained. Certain Chinese herbs are
treated with sulfur to give the herbs an appearance of freshness,
as a result, many have demonstrated unacceptably high levels of
sulfites. At Kan Herb Company, our first concern is safety,
and we make every effort to ensure that our herbs are indeed sulfite
free.
